What technology does my student need for virtual learning? Will HSCD supply my student’s technology needs?
- Students will need to check out a Chromebook from the virtual program of choice; these are checked out at open house.
- Student must use Hall County-issued Chromebooks in order to take the county tests (CBAs). These tests will not load on any device other than one issued by Hall County.
- Teachers and staff can only help students troubleshoot on HCSD devices.
- If you join later in the year, email Robert.Donaldson@hallco.org to schedule a time to check out a Chromebook.
- If using a device provided by the HCSD, parents must complete the HCSD Acceptable Use Agreement. This will be provided when picking up the device at the school.
- Reliable Internet connectivity is required for the virtual learning environment.
What kind of interaction will be available for parents of online students?
- Parents will create parent observer accounts in Canvas, our learning management system, where they can monitor their child’s courses, progress, and grades 24/7.
- Parents should message teachers via Canvas as the primary form of communication from VPOC teachers is Canvas.
- Parents will also create an Infinite Campus Portal to have access to their child’s information in the county’s student information system.
Other than a Hall County-issued Chromebook, are other supplies needed for virtual learning?
- Middle and high school students may need items for labs, etc. Typically, these will be common “household” items. Teachers will communicate with students once the course begins.
